China will do its best to ensure the success of the climate talks in Copenhagen on the condition that developed nations take the lead in reducing emissions and transferring technologies, the nation's top climate negotiator said yesterday. China will “do its best with utmost sincerity” at the talks to push for a new treaty to succeed the Kyoto Protocol, which expires in 2012, Xie Zhenhua said in a report on the first day of the 10th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature.
